On Sunday, two men arrived outside the Turkish Interior Ministry in Ankara. Security footage shows one of them running toward the building holding a rocket launcher or assault rifle and an explosion going off later. The man in the driver’s seat then opened fire with his weapon. The PKK (Kurdistan Worker’s Party) claimed to be responsible for the blast. The casualties include two police officers who had some minor injuries and a veterinarian who was killed after the militants took their car. This all happened just days before the Turkish Parliament would be in a meeting, which was claimed to be one of the reasons for the attack.
Just hours after the attack was claimed by the PKK, the Turkish Military launched several airstrikes into northern Iraq. The military claimed that it had neutralized 20 targets. These targets included caves, depots, and bunkers being used by the PKK.
