People have accused the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), a paramilitary group in Sudan, of targeting and killing non-Arabs. There have been reports of hundreds of deaths. These reports come after the RSF defeated the Sudanese Army in El Geneina. The RSF has been fighting the military for control of the country since April.
Since the capture of El Geneina, the RSF has been accused of killing large amounts of the ethnic Masalait people. There have been reports of houses being looted and women being raped. The RSF and allied militias have also attacked a camp for displaced people in Erdamta where about 800 people have been killed.
Multiple families, mainly women and children, have been crossing the border into neighboring countries, mainly Chad. They often cross the border with little to no personal belongings.
