Geomagnetic Storm set to hit earth

What is a solar storm?

A solar storm is when the sun emits huge bursts of energy through solar flares and coronal mass ejection. Solar storms can cause problems with electricity. The storm affects the magnetic field of Earth and can make Earth lose power for weeks on end.

The first ever solar storm recorded was back in 1859. This is a projected G4 Geomagnetic solar storm; if it goes to G5, we could be out of power for months. If it is G4, it can spread possible voltage control problems and some systems would trip out key assets to the grid. G5 storms would disrupt everything wireless as it is the most severe type of magnetic storm. This includes GPS, mobile networks, and satellite communication. Is school going to be canceled? Probably not because there would be ways to learn without power.

The arrival of this storm has so far been postponed.
