Death Tolls of Storms and Floods in Greece, Turkey, and Bulgaria

Many people have been taken in the Balkan region due to nature’s dark side.

Death tolls from storms and floods in Greece, Turkey, and Bulgaria have increased to 12 as of this Wednesday. Teams from the 3 countries have found 5 bodies, with the locations of the rest unknown. A flash flood in a campsite near northwest Turkey killed at least 5 people. Searchers have found 3 bodies so far and are looking for 1 other missing person. 2 other people have died in Istanbul, “Turkey’s Largest City” by fierce storms. Storms in this city have inundated hundreds of homes in several neighborhoods.

The two victims in the age-old city of Istanbul include a 32-year-old Guizen citizen who was trapped inside their own basement and a 57-year-old woman who was swept away by the floods and drowned. The floods have affected over 1,750 homes and buildings in the city. Many local shops and businesses have been destroyed and might not ever recover from the damages.

In Greece, heavy rainfall caused 2 deaths near the central city of Volos, with 3 people reported missing. One poor soul was brutally killed when a wall buckled and fell on him, and the body of another person was discovered on Wednesday. Authorities have banned traffic in Volos where many households were left without electricity on the 30th of August.
